Volunteering a clinic in Nicaragua back in 2006, I thought was both helping the patients and furthering my passion for expanding global health care availability. However, talking with clinic administrators and patients I realized that it was the donation of 1,000 band aids to the clinic by a first grade class in Topeka, and the financial contribution towards a new X-Ray machine made by the Kiwanis Club of Detroit, rather than my organizing their files, that was making the true impact on the clinic's patients. I saw that the real impact was being made from half way around the world!

Managua, Nicaragua (2006)

I returned to America with this experience in my pocket and set to work to create a way to connect communities in the states with those in need abroad by showing people simple ways that they can make a big difference half a world away, without ever leaving their state!

"Act Locally, Heal Internationally" is the simple idea that raising awareness, funds, and supplies in your own hometown for a community in need can truly can change the world!

"Act Locally, Heal Internationally" is an initiative that answers the question, "Can what little I do at home really make a difference in a community on the other side of the world?" with a resounding, "YES!"

Since its inception, I have shared this idea with hundreds and seen numerous communities from my area partner with those in need in places like Haiti, Sierra Leone, the Dominican Republic, and many more.
In my personal effort to "Act Locally, Heal Internationally," I founded Rescue and Aid for the Dominican Republic (RADR) in 2007. RADR specifically supports a clinic in the rural Dominican. We have raised over $2,000 for that clinic as well as contributing over $1,200 to relief efforts in Haiti.
